Shahin Damka is docent, danser en artiest. Hij geeft les in Dynamo in Voguing en Waacking; een dansstijl die niet veel mensen onder de knie hebben en waarmee hij al vele prijzen won. Met zijn achtergrond in geschiedenis weet hij als geen ander de oorsprong van deze dansstijlen uit te dragen en mee te nemen in zijn eigen dans en lessen. Uit de motiveringen die Cultuur Eindhoven ontving blijkt dat Shahin vooral een inspirator is voor zijn leerlingen en niet zomaar een docent. Hij biedt een veilige haven voor jongeren waarin ze zichzelf kunnen zijn met aandacht voor de queer community.
Shahin Damka is a teacher, a dancer and an artist. He teaches Voguing and Waacking; a style of dancing that not many people have mastered, with which he has won many awards. With his background in history, he knows how to express the origins of these dancing styles like no other, and he incorporates this in his own dancing and lessons. From the recommendations that Cultuur Eindhoven received, it becomes clear that Shahin is first and foremost an inspirator to his students, not just another teacher. He offers a safe haven for the youth, in which they can be themselves, with attention to the queer community.
